NRWMF 2019-2022 Funding has been announced
Successful Grant Applicants Announced
Successful applications under the National Radioactive Waste Management Facility - Community Benefit Programme were announced today by The Hon Keith Pitt MP, Minister for Resources, Water and Northern Australia.
A total of $4 million was awarded across some 35 projects which will support communities in the Kimba and Hawker regions to diversify their local economies, boost local services, and strengthen community organisations.
Successful projects in Hawker and Quorn focus on investment in heritage assets and tourism, community organisations and diversifying the region’s economy following involvement in the detailed consultation process about hosting a National Radioactive Waste Management Facility. This grant will officially end the process in the Hawker and Quorn areas and the Minister sincerely thanked those communities for their close engagement with the government during the consultation phase.
Over the coming year we will see many exciting projects getting underway. The Flinders Ranges Council would like to thank the Minister and express our gratitude to the Commonwealth Government for enabling the implementation of projects which will be of major benefit to our communities and will provide a massive boost to our local economy.
This is wonderful news, after what has been a very trying year, and will provide a great start to 2021!
