Flinders Ranges Council Announces

2026 State Election Priorities

The Flinders Ranges Council presents its key priorities for the 2026 South Australian State Election, calling on all candidates and major parties to commit to targeted investment in infrastructure and community facilities that will strengthen the long-term sustainability of the region.

Mayor Ken Anderson said the priorities focus on practical, deliverable projects that will improve liveability, support economic growth, and ensure essential services are available locally. “These priorities are not aspirational, they are essential. With State Government partnership, we can unlock economic opportunity, support families, and ensure our towns remain strong and resilient into the future.”

The 2026 State Election Priorities are as follows:

  1. Water Security and Infrastructure - Securing funding for improved water quality, re-use, capture and recharge.
  2. Regional Childcare Centre - State investment to establish a purpose-built childcare centre in Quorn to address critical workforce shortages.
  3. Community Gym and Wellness Hub - Funding to deliver a multi-use community gym facility that promotes physical health, mental wellbeing and allied services.
  4. Blue Burt Precinct - Strategic development of the Blue Burt Precinct into a vibrant, green and connected community space.
  5. Quorn Main Street Strategy - Transform First Street into an attractive, welcoming and economically active township centre.

The Council is actively engaging with all candidates in the lead up to the 2026 State Election seeking formal commitments to these projects and encourage the community to meet with candidates and support these priorities.
