Council Voters Roll

What is the Voters Roll?

The Council Voters Roll is for people who are entitled to vote in a council election but do not live in the council area.

This typically includes people who own, lease or occupy property in The Flinders Ranges Council but have their primary residence elsewhere in South Australia.

Who needs to apply?

You may need to apply for the Supplementary Roll if you:

  • own a home or investment property in the Council area but do not reside in the district
  • lease or operate a business in the district
  • are part of a company or group that owns or occupies property in the area

Important Information for 2027

Under section 15(5a) of the Local Government (Elections) Act 1999, the Council Voters Roll is purged on 1 January in an election year.

Recent legislative amendments also require that any person applying for inclusion on the Supplementary Roll must be enrolled on the House of Assembly roll (i.e. have a South Australian residential address).

If you are not enrolled on the House of Assembly roll, you are not eligible to apply for the Council Voters Roll.

If you meet the above eligibility requirement, there are three application forms depending on your circumstances:

Form 3 – Group Owners or Group Occupiers

  • owned by more than one owner; or
