Blue Burt Park

Named in memory of a long serving member of the Hawker Council, Mr Allan William Burt. Mr Burt was known to all as 'Blue' due to his red hair.

'Blue' Burt was a strong advocate for green spaces and recreational facilities in the town.

In 1982, when the commonage was no longer being used to graze stock during a transport stop, it was Mr Burt's suggestion to turn the area into a community park. Over the years trees and grass was planted and the park developed.

Shortly after his death, "A.W. 'Blue' Burt Park" was officially named and opened on New Years Eve 1993 during a 'Mardi Gras' celebration.
