The Carrieton Rural School was closed in 1997 and was then converted into a community-owned business, offering accommodation, powered sites and camping in a rural school setting. It has modern facilities, lawn oval (bring the footy) with a expansive outlook east to the Oladdie Hills.
The Principal's Residence is now a self-contained air-conditioned cottage with disabled access that caters for up to ten people.
The old classroom is now a budget air-conditioned accommodation that also sleeps up to ten people.
The lawned cricket oval has 15 powered sites and many non-powered sites with with an expansive view of the Oladdie Hills to the east.
The Art Room has been converted into a community shed for patrons to relax and enjoy. It features a cosy wood heater, basic kitchen facilities, lounge and TV area and local information. Very popular with travellers in inclement weather.
