SUNDAY TOO FAR AWAY SCREENINGS ON QUORN SILOS EXTENDED FOR OCTOBER LONG WEEKEND
Iconic Australian Film Screenings Extended
Due to overwhelming popularity with both residents and visitors, Sunday Too Far Away will enjoy an extended season on the award-winning Quorn Silos, with an additional screening now scheduled for Saturday 4 October 2025.
To mark the 50th anniversary of the making of the film in the region, The Flinders Ranges Council has been screening Sunday Too Far Away on the Quorn Silos every Saturday night during September. The screening has proven very popular with up to 60 people attending each night. Due to this along with positive feedback received, and with the October long week approaching, Council has made the decision to extend the screenings for a week.
The final two screenings will be made even more special with the inclusion of an exclusive introductory video message from Australian screen legend Jack Thompson AM. Thompson, who has “very fond memories of Quorn,” continues to describe Sunday Too Far Away as one of his favourite films.
To further commemorate the 50th anniversary of the film’s production, The Flinders Ranges Council has installed temporary signage throughout the town, celebrating Quorn’s place in Australian film history. Some of these include Foley Way, Sunday Too Far Away Path and Jack Thompson AM Road.
Given the success of the event, the Council is delighted to announce that the silo screenings of Sunday Too Far Away will now become an annual celebration, ensuring the story and its legacy live on for years to come and will look at featuring other films as they reach significant anniversaries.
Locals and visitors alike are invited to join in this unique cinematic tribute, under the stars. Everyone is encouraged to bring along chairs or picnic rugs and food and drinks on one of the screening nights and enjoy this free event. The movie will screen from approximately 7.10pm.
