Media Release - Council Facilities Update - COVID-19

The Flinders Ranges Council has today undertaken a reassessment of its operations and has determined that the following facilities will remain closed for at least the next 5 (five) days, with a review of facilities to take place on Monday 2 August 2021. This decision has not been made lightly and is primarily informed by the need to ensure staff and community safety:

Remaining closed:

  • Flinders Ranges Visitor Information Centre (Quorn);
  • Quorn Silo Light Show;
  • Warren Gorge;
  • Hawker Swimming Pool;
  • Quorn Swimming Pool.

The following facilities will remain open but will not be accessible to the public in person (phone contact only):

  • Council Depot Quorn;
  • Council Depot Hawker.

The following facilities will be re-opened, however COVID-19 capacity restrictions will apply:

  • Quorn Community Hall (1 person per 4m2 applies – COVID Safe Plan required);
  • Quorn Town Hall (1 person per 4m2 applies – COVID Safe Plan required);
  • Hawker Institute (1 person per 4m2 applies – COVID Safe Plan required);
  • Hawker Gym (1 person per 8m2 applies);
  • Publicly accessible historic sites including Kanyaka Ruins and others (general social distancing applies);
  • Playgrounds including the skate park (general social distancing applies).

The following facilities will continue to remain open to the public at this time:

  • Council Office Quorn (for essential enquiries only);
  • Landfill Hawker (in accordance with normal operating hours)
  • Waste Transfer Station Quorn (in accordance with normal operating hours)
  • Sewage Treatment Plant Quorn;
  • Sewage Treatment Plant Hawker;
  • Public Toilets;

It should be noted that Waste Collection Services will continue as normal.

We will be continuing to assess the risk for staff and the community over the coming days and will keep the community informed of any changes.
