The Flinders Ranges Council Secures AED Grant to Enhance Community Safety

The Flinders Ranges Council is pleased to announce that it has successfully secured a grant from the Preventative Health SA AED Grants Program. This funding will be used for the installation and maintenance of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) at key community leased spaces.

A total of five (5) AEDs will be installed, filling critical gaps and ensuring that all community and sporting leased premises across the region are equipped with these life-saving devices. The installation of these AEDs is a significant step toward enhancing the safety of our community and ensuring that emergency medical care is readily available.

Mayor, Ken Anderson, emphasised the importance of having accessible AEDs in place, stating, “It is essential for the safety and wellbeing of our community that these vital facilities are available. The installation of these AEDs ensures that we are well-prepared to respond to emergencies and, most importantly, save lives.”

The AEDs will be accessible to the public and ready to be used in case of a medical emergency. The ongoing maintenance of these devices will also be a priority, ensuring they remain fully operational at all times.

The Flinders Ranges Council remains committed to the health and safety of the community and continues to seek opportunities to improve services and facilities for all residents. It is anticipated that the new AEDs will be installed in the first quarter of 2025. Council is also developing town maps showing locations and accessibility of all AED’s.
